Pharmacological Effects

Bacitracin has good antibacterial activity against most of gram-positive bacterium such as staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus, enterococcus, clostridium, corynebacterium, etc. and effective to actinomycetes and spirochetes. The sensitive bacteria have no resistance to it.
Bacitracin (bacitracin, bacitracin zinc and bacitracin methylene disalicylate premix) is used to promote growth as the medical feed additive. It is usually used with antibacterial agent with resistance to gram-negative bacterium such as colistin and neomycin. It is mainly applied to promote growth, and cure bacterial diarrhea of livestock and bloody flux caused by treponema.

Drug Interaction

1. It has synergistic effect when using with penicillin, streptomycin, neomycin and colistin.
2. The compound preparation consisting of the product and colistin has antagonistic properties against oxytetracycline, aureomycin, kitasamycin, enramycin, virginiamycin and olaquindox.
